Parliamentary delegates and diplomats from a number of Asian countries Friday visited China's biggest mini-car factory, which was transformed from a century-oldmilitary plant.

The delegates, who were here attending the third annual meetingof the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP), visited Chang'an Group, which has produced over one million mini-cars and mini-buses over the past two decades.

The company was set up in 1862 by the Qing Dynasty government and produced munitions until 1983, when it entered the car manufacturing sector.

It has set up joint ventures with world car giants during the past two decades, including Ford.

The company reported 10 billion yuan in total output and sales volume for last year, ranking first in the country.

Chang'an is held up as a successful example of a military company that switched to civil manufacturing in the biggest industrial city in southwest China.

The four-day AAPP third annual meeting concluded Friday after issuing the AAPP Chongqing Declaration, which calls on Asian countries to respect the reality of diversity, seek diversified development and take more solid strides toward regional cooperation, solidarity and mutual assistance.
