The success of the third annualmeeting of the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP) reflected the sincerity of Asian countries for further cooperation,a Chinese parliamentary official said here Friday.

Lu Congmin, deputy secretary-general of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress and secretary-general of theChinese delegation to the AAPP, said that the conference can be called "high-level" and "large-scale" for it attracted a record ofover 400 delegates, including 24 heads and 9 deputy heads of parliamentary bodies from 39 countries.

The theme of peace and development has won unanimous recognition from delegates, he said.

The Chongqing Declaration adopted by the meeting was cultivatedby all the parliamentary delegates and would have a far-reaching impact on future inter-parliamentary exchanges and state-to-state cooperation, Lu said.

"It's really a wise choice for the NPC Standing Committee to choose Chongqing as the city to hold the meeting together with Beijing," the Chinese official said.
