Li Peng, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, met with Taranath Ranabhat, speaker of the Nepalese Lower House and Tagandurdy Hallyev, chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turmenistan in Chongqing on Friday.

The pair were in China attending the third annual meeting of the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP).

China and Nepal were friendly and close neighbors, Li said, noting that complete equality, respect, sincerity and mutual support were the features of their bilateral relationship.

China consistently valued good, cooperative relations with its neighbors, and never interfered in the domestic affairs of other countries, he said.

China supported Nepal's measures to safeguard its internal stability and crack down on terrorist violence, said Li, expressing his hope that Nepal and its people would enjoy peace and prosperity.

Ranabhat congratulated Li on China's successful hosting of the AAPP meeting. Nepal had a high opinion of China's consistent good- neighborliness and its policy of non-interference in other countries' domestic affairs, Ranabhat said.

Nepal would adhere to the one-China policy and prevent anti- China activities in Nepal, Ranabhat said.

In meeting with the Turkmenian leader, Li said political trust between China and Turkmenistan had been promoted since the establishment of diplomatic relations ten years ago.

Bilateral cooperation had been beneficial in many areas, he said, expressing his wish that through joint efforts, the current friendly cooperative relations would reach new heights.

Hallyev said since Li was elected chairman of the AAPP, it had become an important organization in the international community.

The AAPP Chongqing Declaration, soon to be passed at the meeting, would be a positive influence on the policies of Asian countries, and also conducive to the peace and development of the region and the world at large, he said.

He praised China's foreign policy, expressing his wish to strengthen cooperation between the two congresses, and further widen bilateral relations.
