The month-long 2002 Yangzhou Trade Tourism Festival opened Thursday in Yangzhou City in east China's Jiangsu Province.
Local tourism officials said the festival will highlight the history and culture of Yangzhou and its tourist attractions. Over 1,000 business people and tourists from 34 countries and regions attended the opening ceremony of the festival.
Tourists will be treated to evening parties, art performances, and various exhibitions during the festival.
The 2,500-year-old city is a well-known tourism city in China and a historic hub for water transportation.
