China's Capital Market Grows Steady in First Quarter

The domestic capital market, especially the stock market, grew steady during the first quarter of 2002, Qiu Xiaohua, deputy commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), said here Wednesday.

The domestic capital market, especially the stock market, grew steady during the first quarter of 2002, Qiu Xiaohua, deputy commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), said here Wednesday.

Qiu said the rise can be attributed to the recovery of global economy and China's successive fast growth under clear macroeconomic policy.

According to Qiu, the indices of the Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange climbed more than seven percent in thefirst quarter.

Qiu noted that China's investment market will bring a bright future to investors provided the investors remain optimistic and act carefully to pick up opportunities from risks.
