China to Hold International Triathlon in Hainan

An international triathlon championship is to be held in Sanya, Hainan province in November, the organizers said in Haikou on Tuesday.

An international triathlon championship is to be held in Sanya, Hainan province in November, the organizers said in Haikou on Tuesday.

The organizers said they have set the route for 1.8-kilometer swimming, 55km bicycling and 12km running around Sanya, known as the most of beautiful tour spot in the far south of China.

About 200 athletes are expected to compete in the international event and challenge the two-hour-and-30-minute event record.

Sanya had hosted the Asian Triathlon Championship in 1994.
