The Taiwan labor authorities will implement a new quota system to regulate the number of alien workers imported from each source country, Taiwan media reported Friday.
A labor official was quoted as saying that in addition to the existing policy of controlling the total number of foreign workers in Taiwan, the authorities will use a new quota system to adjust the number of workers imported from particular source countries, the major ones being Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam in that order.
The new quota system will not have any impact on the 303,567 foreigners who are currently working in Taiwan in various trades either, the official noted.
