Waldner Unable to Play in Chinese League

Sweden's table-tennis symbol Jan-Ove Waldner cannot come and join the Chinese domestic league, but he said he would like to play in China next season.

Sweden's table-tennis symbol Jan-Ove Waldner cannot come and join the Chinese domestic league, but he said he would like to play in China next season.

Waldner had signed contract with Swedish club Kalmar before he considered the possibility to play in China. But the Swedish Table-Tennis Association did not allow players of Swedish club to play in other leagues, Waldner's Chinese agent Jiang Rui told Xinhua onMonday.

Waldner had asked for an exception to play in China on loan, but was denied. Jiang said Waldner was upset when he knew he couldnot come to China this season.

But the Swede is willing to switch to China, the world table-tennis leading nation, after he finishes his contract with Kalmar next April.
