Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong Zou Zhekai Monday met with the visiting delegation from Taiwan's Alliance for Reunification of China.

At the invitation of the Hong Kong Research Center for "One Country, Two Systems", the delegation arrived in Hong Kong on Sunday for a 4-day visit.

Zou said that Hong Kong is the first region that has implemented the principle of "one country, two systems", and it has already had a good start over the past five years.

Hong Kong has maintained the social and political stability, there has been no change in people's life style, and the principles of "Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong" and "high degree of autonomy" are carried out in a earnest way, Zou said.

The principle of "one country, two systems" has displayed greatvitality in Hong Kong and has generally been acknowledged by the international community, Zou said.

Despite the various kinds of slandering by the Taiwan authorities, polls have showed an ever-increasing trust among the island's people in the principle of "one country, two systems", Zou stressed. "This once again indicates that the principle is a correct one, scientific one, and one that can be used to solve theTaiwan issue," Zou added.
