China's Enterprise Performance Index Rises Steadily
China's enterprise performance index rose by 0.4 points from the last quarter of 2001 to 118 points in the first quarter of 2002. The performance index of small and medium-sized enterprises stood at 105.9, up 2.6 over the previous quarter, while the index of large enterprises dropped 1.9 from the previous quarter to 137.2.
China's enterprise performance index rose by 0.4 points from the last quarter of 2001 to 118 points in the first quarter of 2002, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
NBS survey shows that the performance index of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) slipped 2.2 points from the same period last year to 114, but it rose 0.3 points over the previous quarter.
Compared with the previous quarter, the performance index of collective enterprises grew 5.7 points, private enterprises 4.6 points and overseas-funded enterprises four points, while the indices of share-holding enterprises, joint enterprises and limited corporations went down.
Index of large enterprises slipping
NBS statistics also show that the industrial enterprise performance index fell 1.2 from the previous quarter to 120.5, yet the index of transportation, storage, post and telecommunications rose 9.1 to 122.7 and the index of wholesale, retail and catering industry rose 15.3 to 122.6. Indices of the construction and real estate industries went down by 9.6 and 2.5 respectively.
The performance index of small and medium-sized enterprises stood at 105.9, up 2.6 over the previous quarter, while the index of large enterprises dropped 1.9 from the previous quarter to 137.2.
According to the NBS, the index of listed companies rose 1.2 to139 points from the previous quarter, the index of township enterprises increased by 3.1 to 129.4 points, while indices of national key enterprises and pilot corporations slipped slightly.
