An explosion took place in Baitutan Town, Liling City, in central China's Hunan Province, Friday afternoon, leaving one person dead and one firefighter missing at press time.
Local sources say that the explosion was caused by a fire which started Friday morning when local people visited their ancestral tombs on a mountainside on this traditional Chinese festival for remembering the dead, at which fake paper money is burned.
The fire spread quickly, burning down hundreds of trees and igniting fireworks stored in a factory warehouse, witnesses said.
A local rescue team rushed to the spot, and had the fire under control by 5:00 p.m.
