Shanghai, Bayi Lead Semi-final Series by 2-0

Regular-season winner Shanghai Sharks and defending champion Bayi Rockets defeated their semi-finals opponents on Wedesday, leading the best-of-five series by 2-0s.

Regular-season winner Shanghai Sharks and defending champion Bayi Rockets defeated their semi-finals opponents on Wedesday, leading the best-of-five series by 2-0s.

Yao Ming scored 40 points and grabbed 21 rebounds to pilot Sharks, who recorded a 23-1 run in the regular season, for a 106-93 home win over Jilin Northeast Tigers. American guard Steve Harter had 24 points, while former Utah Jazz power forward David Benoit chipping in 15 points.

The Sharks led from the very start to the end, holding Tigers' top-scorer Sun Jun to just five points. Sun, who has CBA's single-game scoring record of 71 points, played just 15 minutes and watched the match in the whole second half.

Liu Yudong, the Best Scorer this season, got 34 points in Rockets' 125-94 win over Shandong Flaming Bulss at home in Ningbo,Zhejiang province.

Shandong, who lost key player Gong Xiaobin and Liu Tie in previous matches, committed 36 turnovers, 15 in the first quarter of the game.

The third matches will be played in Shanghai and Ningbo too, as the two leading teams could wrap up the series at home.
