Li Ruihuan Meets HK Youth Delegation

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Wednesday met with a Hong Kong youth delegation headed by Wu Suk-qing, president of the Chinese History and Culture Educational Foundation For Youth.

Li Ruihuan welcomed the delegation to the mainland.

He said that China's rich and profound culture is an important component of world culture and has guaranteed China's cohesion through a series of wars and chaos. the Chinese people should take pride in this, he noted.

Li stressed the importance of understanding history and educating young people in Chinese history and culture. He said that, without understanding history, it is difficult to make senseof reality or control the future.

To revitalize China, Chinese people should study and inherit the nation's excellent historical and cultural traditions, he said.

Other high-ranking officials, including Wang Zhaoguo, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, also attended the meeting.

The delegation, consisting of 160 students and teachers from about 60 middle schools in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region,arrived here Tuesday.
