China to Provide Information on Mekong River to Downstream States
The Chinese government will provide the downstream countries of the Mekong River with the information on Mekong River levels during the flood season, according to an agreement signed Monday morning in Phnom Penh.

Dong Zheren, director general of the Department of International Cooperation, Science and Technology of the Ministry of Water Resources of China, and Joern Kristensen, chief executive of the Mekong River Commission, Monday signed the agreement on provision of the information of Mekong River levels on behalf of the Chinese government and the four downstream countries -- Camabodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, respectively.
Under the agreement, the Ministry of Water Resources of China will provide data on river levels to the Mekong River Commission Secretariat during the flood season each year between June 15 and October 15.
The information will be given by two water measuring stations located at Yunjinghong and Man'an in the Lancang River in China.
