A Chinese Patient Celebrates His Birthday With Transplanted Hands

Gao Bin, a 20-year-old Chinese patient, puts candles on his birthday cake with both transplanted hands in an orthopedic ward of No.1 Clinical Hospital of Harbin Medical University, where he received a hand cross-transplant operation and was also fixed on with artificial legs on Jan. 13, 2001 after a serious frostbite which caused him lose both hands and legs. His operation was extremely successful and listed No.4 in the world and No.2 in Asia among the same kind of both-hand cross-transplant operations according to recorded documents. Now, Gao Bin is able to do some daily activities and is still on recovery.
