China Condemns Terrorist Attack in India

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi said China strongly condemns Tuesday's terrorist attack on the American Center in Kolkata, India.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi said China strongly condemns Tuesday's terrorist attack on the American Center in Kolkata, India.

Sun made the remarks Wednesday when asked to comment on the attack by some unidentified gunmen which resulted in the deathof several people and many injuries.

Sun said "we are shocked" at the shooting, and China sends deep sympathy and condolences to the family members of the dead and injured.

Gunmen Kill 4 Outside US Centre in India

Four policemen were killed and at least 14 injured in a dawn attack by unidentified gunmen outside the US information office in the eastern Indian city of Calcutta on Tuesday, police said.

No staff of the US Information Service office were injured in the attack on the heavily guarded building located on one of Calcutta's busiest streets, Gordon Duguid, press attache in the US Embassy in New Delhi told reporters.

"Nothing happened inside the centre. We are waiting for the Calcutta police to provide us with more details," he said.
