China Publishes Price Index for Coastal Shipping
The index will become a barometer of the market of China's coastal shipping, said officials with Shanghai Shipping Exchange, which did the preparatory work for the index.
A price index for coastal shipping of bulk cargo debuted Wednesday in Shanghai.
The index will become a barometer of the market of China's coastal shipping, said officials with Shanghai Shipping Exchange, which did the preparatory work for the index.
Officials said that the index is based on the prices of five major forms of bulk cargo including coal, crude oil, oil products,ores and grain, which account for over 60 percent of throughput ofcoastal shipping.
In 1998, China published a price index for container shipping, which turned out to be an important guideline helping the overseascompanies better know general situation of the country's shipping market.
