The United Nations posted a list on its website on Tuesday ordering all its members to freeze the assets of 152 Taliban officials.

The 11-page list, which was posted on the UN website http://www.un.org/ by a UN Security Council sanctions committee, includes names of individuals, groups or businesses associated with the Taliban or Saudi-born Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda network.

Bin Laden was the main suspect for the September 11 terror attacks against the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington.

On top of the list was Mullah Mohammad Omar, the spiritual leader and founder of the Taliban, and Mullah Mohammad Rabbani, chairman of the council of ministers. The entire Taliban representation in Pakistan was also included in the list.

The list was compiled by the sanctions committee to enforce U.N.resolutions that were adopted in 1999 and 2000 calling for a freeze in Taliban funds and assets of individuals and organizations associated with bin Laden.

On October 9, the Security Council's sanctions panel of Afghanistan ordered all UN.members to freeze assets of 13 individuals, three companies and 11 groups named by the US government.
