U.S., Japan, South Korea Hold Talks on Korean Peninsula

Delegates from the United States, Japan and South Korea on Tuesday began trilateral talks in San Francisco to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Delegates from the United States, Japan and South Korea on Tuesday began trilateral talks in San Francisco to discuss the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

The teams were led separately by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs James Kelly, South Korea' s Deputy Foreign Minister Yim Sung Joon, and Hitoshi Tanaka, director general of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanic Affairs Bureau.

The talks are expected to focus on how to break the deadlocked dialogue between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and South Korea so as to coordinate their policies towards the DPRK.
