Pakistan has maintained that it is for the Afghans to choose which form of government they want in their country.

This was stated by Aziz Ahmed Khan, spokesman for the Pakistani Foreign Office, here on Tuesday at a joint press conference with Rashid Qureshi, spokesman for the armed forces.

Khan said that at present a meeting of the Afghan groups is going on in Bonn, Germany, under the U.N. auspices and the Pakistani government will examine the question of recognition of the government in Afghanistan once the broad-based, multi-ethnic and representative transitional entity is in place there.

He said the composition of any government in Afghanistan will be available after the Bonn's meeting.

If the Afghans are satisfied that there is adequate representation in the provincial set up then it will ensure durable peace there, he added.

Responding to a question about Osama bin Laden, Qureshi said that Pakistan has no idea about the whereabout of Osama bin Laden as President Pervez Musharraf said Monday night that according to his information there is no presence of this man or anyone else related to Al-Qaeda in Pakistan.

He added that if Osama does try and enter Pakistan, legal action will be taken against him.
