Opposition Northern Alliance troops entered Kunduz, the last stronghold of the Taliban millita in north Afghanistan, on Sunday as Taliban soldiers were moving out of the city after they surrendered.

The Northern Alliance forces led by ethnic Uzbek warlord Abdul Rashid Dostum to the west of Kunduz and those led by Tajik commander Mohammad Daoud were reportedly earlier reaching the city, taking up position to mop up the last pockets of resistance from Taliban. Reports reaching here from Kunduz quoted Northern Alliance sources as saying that they have not controlled the entire city. Hundreds of non-Afghan Taliban soldiers loyal to Osama bin Laden have refused to give up and holed up in bunkers around the city.
