Hong Kong to Host International Bowls Classic

Top international lawn bowlers arrived in Hong Kong Friday to compete at the Hong Kong International Bowls Classic 2001.

Top international lawn bowlers arrived in Hong Kong Friday to compete at the Hong Kong International Bowls Classic 2001.

Local Hong Kong players will be joined in the tournament by bowlers from 11 countries and regions including Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, the United States, Wales, Zimbabwe and Malaysia.

The annual event, which features a singles and a pairs competitions, will be held at Kowloon Bowling Green Club and Craigengower Cricket Club from November 24 to December 2.

The Singles is a knockout competition that will be played on November 24-25, with the final held in the afternoon on November 25. The 64 competitors consist 22 players from the 11 foreign teams, winners of Hong Kong Singles, Knockout Singles and Champion of Champions, and players who have qualified from the local clubs.

The Pairs is a week-long competition, with the final played in the afternoon on December 2.

The Hong Kong International Bowls Classic, initiated in the 1981, is recognized as one of the best outdoor bowls tournaments in the world.
