China to Hold Int'l Manufacturing Equipment Expo

The China International Manufacturing Equipment Exposition will be held from August 30 to September 5, 2002 in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, according to a press conference Thursday.

The China International Manufacturing Equipment Exposition will be held from August 30 to September 5, 2002 in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, according to a press conference Thursday.

The exposition is jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Liaoning provincial government.

Co-sponsors include China Machinery Import and Export Corporation, Shenyang City's government and the CCPIT Liaoning branch.

The expo aims to accelerate the country's manufacturing industry, rebuild old industrial bases, encourage inflow of foreign capital and advanced equipment and promote the nation's market economy and globalization, according to the organizing committee.

It will offer a total of 48,000-square-meter displaying area, consisting of 6 exhibition halls, 13 sections and 2000 international standard booths.

Major categories of equipment to be displayed cover machine processing, electronics and telecom, auto making, packaging, printing, food processing, chemicals, rubber and plastics, environmental protection, electric engineering, farm machinery, robot and industrial automation.

During the one-week expo, which will highlight China's manufacturing in various provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, a wide variety of activities will be staged, such as seminars, trade talks and technology exchanges.

Xia Deren, deputy governor of Liaoning Province, said, "Liaoning Province and Shenyang City will provide good services forexhibitors and participants according to international practices." Liaoning is the cradle of China's industries, it was also once nicknamed as China's "region of equipment". Its provincial Capital, Shenyang, is an economic, cultural, trade and financial center. It is also a transport hub and a base of heavy industries with over 61,000 industrial enterprises and strong supporting industries.
