FM Spokeswoman Briefs 19th Round of Sino-Japanese Consultations

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue briefed reporters on the 19th session of regular consultations between the foreign ministries of China and Japan at a regular press conference Thursday.

According to Zhang, during the consultations, the two sides reviewed the status of Sino-Japanese relations for this year, and discussed the bilateral relations of the next year, including the arrangement for celebrating the 30th anniversary of the normalization of the diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Zhang said the two sides agreed that the anniversary celebration and the correct perspective on history will give Chinaand Japan the opportunity to "learn from past experience and look forward to the future."

The countries should maintain the good trend of developing and improving the bilateral ties, and further promote the bilateral communication and cooperation in various fields.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest, Zhang added.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Japanese Vice ForeignMinister Takano Toshiyuki held the 19th session of regular consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries here Wednesday.
