A delegation from the Afghan Northern Alliance (NA) on Wednesday arrived in Taliban-controlled Kunduz province and held positive talks with the Taliban officials, according to the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).

Spokesman for the Taliban provincial governor in Kunduz, Mohammed Gul Zubair told AIP by satellite phone that the delegation comprises key NA officials who were renowned mujahideen (Holy Warrior) commanders during the anti-Soviet period.

Meanwhile, he said, a high-level Taliban delegation also arrived in Mazar-e-Sharif Wednesday to hold talks with commander Dostum.

"The two sides held positive talks, and further talks are still going on," the spokesman said.

"I hope a good resolution could be worked out and the Taliban forces in Kunduz could retreat from this province peacefully," he said.
