Air France to Upgrade Flights Between Beijing, Paris

Air France announced Wednesday that the daily flights between Beijing and Paris will beupgraded from the current Boeing 777s to Boeing 747s from April 2002.

Air France announced Wednesday that the daily flights between Beijing and Paris will beupgraded from the current Boeing 777s to Boeing 747s from April 2002.

As a result, the number of passengers carried between the two capitals will be increased from 202 to 321 per flight, up 50 percent.

"This will comply with the growing frequency of visits between Beijing and Paris," said Bernard Aubreton, Air France's general manager for China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Air France started flying to China in 1947. There are now 19 weekly flights from China to Europe via Air France, as well as onecargo flight.

Aubreton said that despite the difficulties being faced by the global aviation industry, China has retained its growth momentum.

Air France will attach greater importance to the development ofthe Chinese aviation industry, and provide better services in order to cater to the cultural demands of Chinese customers, he added.

Air France first put Chinese interpreters on board in 1997, andhas begun to provide special training to its air crews in subjectsincluding Chinese history, geography and economy.
