Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji said Tuesday in Bejing that the visit of President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea will further the bilateral relations between the two countries.

While meeting with Obiang, Zhu said that the president's fruitful meeting with Chinese President Jiang Zemin Monday and the signing of three official documents by the two countries shows that the visit has been successful.

Obiang said that the three documents on economic and agricultural cooperation are significant for both countries and will strengthen their friendly relationship.

He highly valued China's aid to Equatorial Guinea and said he hopes that more Chinese companies will help exploit the natural resources in his country.

Meanwhile, he expected China will provide Equatorial Guinea with technical support in urban construction, medical care and oil production as well as in radio and television broadcasting.

Obiang congratulated China on its entry into the World Trade Organization, which he regarded as very significant for other developing countries.

Zhu agreed with Obiang's proposal for further development of bilateral trade, economic and technical cooperation.

In addition to official links, the two governments should encourage more exchanges and contacts between companies from the two countries, Zhu said.

The Chinese government will support Chinese companies wishing to expand their businesses in Equatorial Guinea in oil exploitation, forestry and other fields, Zhu said.

With a realistic and pioneering spirit and keeping to the principles of equality and mutual benefit as well as co-development, China is willing to further expand economic, trade

and technical cooperation with Equatorial Guinea, Zhu said.
