Chinese Defense Minster Chi Haotian made the remark Monday afternoon when he held talks with his Yugoslav counterpart Slobodian Krapovic.
Chi, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said that Sino-Yugoslav relations have developed smoothly in recent years, and the Chinese military attaches importance to its relations with the Yugoslav armed forces.
He said that Krapovic is the first Yugoslav defense minster to visit China since 1996, and his visit is of significance in furthering friendly relations between the two armed forces.
He also briefed the guest on the Chinese government's view about the situation in the Asia-Pacific region as well as in the world, Chinese foreign and defense policies, and the Chinese government's stance on the issues of Taiwan and combating terrorism.
Krapovic spoke on the current international situation, and the Balkans situation in particular, and briefed Chi on Yugoslavia's army building and its view on cracking down on terrorism.
He said that Yugoslavia praised China for its important role in the international community, and it was meaningful for him to exchange views with Chinese military leaders on issues of common interest.
Yugoslavia is ready to continue cooperation with China in the defense and other fields, he said.
He stressed that Yugoslavia respects sovereignty and territorial integrity of China, and adheres to the One-China stance.
