Mikhail Gorbachev, former president of the Soviet Union, and former South Korean president Roh Tae-woo met again Saturday at the Shilla Hotel in Jeju Island, where a Roh-Gorbachev summit took place in April 1991. The former leaders greeted each other warmly and recalled their previous meeting over dinner.

"The S. Korea-Soviet Union summit was the greatest achievement of my presidency," Mr. Roh said.

"It was a difficult decision to make at that time," said Mr. Gorbachev. Former Blue House staffs and the former foreign minister who worked for the summit also attended the dinner.

Mr. Gorbachev is scheduled to visit the Blue House, deliver a lecture and visit the main political parties during a stay in Seoul. He will leave South Korea on Wednesday.
