A boxer from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) dashed into the men's 100-meter final at China's 9th National Games Saturday.

The 22-year-old Du Weinuo clocked 10.50 seconds and qualified as second place finisher from heat three.

A semi-professional sportsman, Du said he is not majored in athletics but in boxing. "I get boxing training during the day and take some college courses during the night," he said. "I receive a small sum of money for boxing, so I am kind of professional."

The HKSAR delegation does not expect a medal in this event, according to Du, indoor national champion for 60-meter race in 1999. "We are just encouraged to try our best, and I expect myself to make it 10.50, or better, in the final," he said.

Hong Kong's Jiang Weihong also qualified for the 100-meter final scheduled for Sunday.
