Everbright Bank Launches Currency Clearing Service
The Everbright Bank of China announced Friday that it has started to provide instant clearing service in foreign currencies, after the service in renminbi, the local currency, began in June last year. It marks that the bank's computerized clearing service is now operational, a bank source said. With the service, clients are able to transmit their money between the bank's branches and other international banks instantly and safely, the source added. The service will change the way the bank handles settlement of accounts and greatly improve efficiency and reduce risks, the source said. The bank considers high-quality financial services as key measures to attract big clients and sharpen competitiveness when the domestic banks are confronted with the post-WTO entry competition. Founded in 1992, Everbright is China's only State-controlled commercial bank with international shares. It has nearly 300 offices around the country.
