China has so far signed 11 items out of total 12 major multilateral conventions and protocols related to states' responsibilities for combating terrorism.

The decision of joining the International Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist Explosion was approved by the 24th Session of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC) on October 27.

According to the State Council, to join the convention will help China crack down illegal actions destroying China's social security and order hatched by national separatists and antagonists both inside and outside China, establish a good national image, and maintain the national interests as well. And from an internal point of view, the Chinese criminal law concerning bombing and terrorism is in total unison with the international convention, thus paving the way for the implementation of the latter in China.
