Over 70 percent of colleges in Beijing have set up psychological health services to meet the psychological needs of college students.

A report from Monday's Beijing Evening News states that 87.3 percent of college students agree implementing psychological consultative services are important and necessary.

Wang Jianzhong, from the psychological research center of the Beijing Aerospace and Aviation University, said, "College students have major turning points in their lives, noting that they must learn to be independent and they are facing a much more competitive job market.

"If they cannot adjust properly to these changes, they are likely to have psychological problems."

Wang said that a recent survey shows 16.5 percent of the college students in Beijing have a medium to high level of psychological problems. Among them, female students, students fromrural areas and sophomores dominate.

Experts suggest every college should set up a psychological clinic.
