Chinese Defense Minister Meets Bolivian Guest

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian met Tuesday afternoon with Erland Camacho Mansilla, commander of the Bolivian air force.

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian met Tuesday afternoon with Erland Camacho Mansilla, commander of the Bolivian air force.

Chi, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said that the Sino-Bolivian relations have been developing smoothly since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1985.

China and Bolivia have maintained sound cooperation in the political, economic and military fields, as well as in international affairs, he said. Chi also extended thanks to Bolivia for its support on the human rights and the Taiwan issues.

Chi held a positive view towards the contact between the two armed forces, saying that the Chinese army is ready to further its relations with the Bolivian armed forces in the new century.

Camacho said that Bolivia and China have maintained mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation. He believes that his ongoing China trip would help promote the relations between the two armies, especially between air forces of the two countries.

Camacho also reaffirmed that Bolivia will, as always, adhere to the One-China principle.
