US investigators have recovered the second black box from the American Airlines Flight 587 jetliner which crashed minutes after its takeoff from New York's Kennedy Airport on Monday, local media reported.

The cockpit voice recorder is believed to be critical for investigators to get a glimpse of what happened aboard the doomed plane before the crashing.

Officials from U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, which is responsible for the investigation, said the black box was recovered from the wreckage of the crashed jetliner and sent to Washington for analysis.

Another black box, the flight data recorder, was recovered earlier and has been sent here by a special plane for Analysis.

The crashed Flight 587, bound for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was an Airbus A-300 jet with 255 passengers and crew aboard. U.S. investigators believed that the tragedy was an incident and so far there is no indication of a terrorist attack.
