S.Korean President Expresses Condolences Over US Jet Crash

South Korean President Kim Dae-jung Tuesday sent a message to his US counterpart George W. Bush to voice his deep condolences over the crash of a passenger plane crash in New York on Monday.

South Korean President Kim Dae-jung Tuesday sent a message to his US counterpart George W. Bush to voice his deep condolences over the crash of a passenger plane crash in New York on Monday.

"We were completely shocked at news on the plane crash. I convey deep condolences to you (President Bush) and your people," South Korean presidential spokesman Oh Hong-keun said by quoting Kim.

"I hope causes of the crash will be clarified as early as possible," added the spokesman by citing the president.

Meanwhile, the South Foreign Affairs and Foreign Ministry Tuesday ordered its embassy in Washington and its consulate general in New York to quickly get the picture of a passenger jet crash in the Queens section of New York Monday morning.

An American Airline flight 587 that had just taken off from JFK for Dominica crashed Monday, and buildings were reportedly on fire in the Queens borough of New York City.

The crash came two months after the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.
