Healthy Economic Growth in Tibet

Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region recorded an all-round economic growth in the first nine months of this year.

Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region recorded an all-round economic growth in the first nine months of this year.

By the end of September the added value of industrial enterprises at or above the township level went up by 7.5 percent to 596 million yuan. The region's import and export value totaled 85.59 million U.S. dollars.

The region's revenue was at 490 million yuan, representing an increase of 12.9 percent. The outstanding savings deposit came to 17.5 billion yuan, up 19.5 percent over the same period last year.

Tibet invested 5.7 billion yuan in fixed assets in the first nine months. This year construction began on 30 of the 70 listed projects which are to be built with aid from other provinces and municipalities.

The disposable income of urban residents increased by 15 percent this year. The average rate of expenditure on communication, recreation, education and culture by each household rose by 20 percent.
