Former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani said on Thursday that the Northern Alliance wants more weapons and military equipment rather than troops from other countries, the Central-Asia Interfax news agency reported.

Rabbani made the remark after meeting with visiting Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe.

Rabbani also stressed that the responsibility for wiping out all terrorists and smashing their bases rest fully on the legitimate government of Afghanistan.

Rabbani expressed his hope for military assistance from other countries to the Northern Alliance.

During the talks, Sezer agreed that the Taliban should be excluded from the future coalition government in Afghanistan, which represents the interests of different groups.

An aide to the Turkish president indicated Turkey would dispatch a 90-strong unit of special forces to Afghanistan.

Sezer, who arrived in Dushanbe on Wednesday, agreed to strengthen the anti-terrorism cooperation with Tajikistan in his talks with President Emomali Sharipovich Rakhmonov.
