The 4th Asia Arts Festival, which began on October 9, ended here Wednesday with a concert entitled "Call from Life".

The concert, highlighting "Exploring Life, Caring for Nature, and Preserving Traditional Culture", was given by the Mongolian Ethnic Group Youth Chorus from north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The troupe staged masterpieces by S. Enkhebayar, a young Mongolian composer who is the main founder of the troupe. Six horsehead fiddle artists also gave a performance.

Experts say that Enkhebayar's works combines the functions of the traditional European four part voice chorus, the style of the Mongolian ethnic group music, and the form of unaccompanied chorus, which gives the chorus its expressive force.

The troupe, as prize-winner in musical festivals in Austria, Spain and Sweden, has a traditional Chinese flavor to their songs while using the western art form, which highlights the theme of the festival which is "Spread Asia's Voice to the World".

The one-month arts festival aimed to show the cultural image of Asia to the world. This annual event, co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and the China Performing Arts Agency, was first held in 1998, attracting hundreds of both Chinese and overseas artists.
