Top Must-See Sites in Xi’An – Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses

The Terra-cotta Army or the Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses is a sight not to be missed by any visitor in China. In Xi’An, the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of all China, laid here. It is said that the work to build his own mausoleum began when Emperor Qin Shi Huang was 13. It took nearly 38 years and hundreds of thousands of builders to finish the whole area. East to tomb is the Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses. Life sized terra-cotta figures of warriors and horses arranged in battle formations, together with many buried treasures and sacrificial objects, accompanied and protected the emperor in his afterlife.
