BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) -- China said Sunday it plans to raise its defense budget by 11.2 percent to 670 billion yuan (106.4 billion U.S. dollars) in 2012.

The year's draft defense budget is 67.6 billion yuan (10.7 billion U.S. dollars) more than that of 2011, said Li Zhaoxing, spokesman for the annual session of China's national legislature.

"The Chinese government follows the principle of coordinating defense development with economic development. It sets the country's defense spending according to the requirement of national defense and the level of economic development," Li said.

It is possible for the china to get most advanced technology at home itself. But thing it needs to do is,it has to motivate the people to make them work for their people by making them realise it is going to face very hard situation in future i.e do or die situation.I think when the people are having good reason for their work they will do that thing with strong mind and heart.

China better increase it"s defense spending by 22% every year for 20 years to closing the gap US air Force and PLA air force. Meanwhile China must redouble it"s effort to modernize it"s strategic missile force. US navy 7th fleet in Okinawa is posing significant threat to PLA air defense system and PLA submarine fleet.

to citizen2000: how american universities and corporations are sending technology to China when there are more Chinese technocrats working for the US in those institutions. The advancement of US technology is riding on the backs of these foreign technocrats. Why do you think US is loosening its visa requirement? To lure Chinese talents!
