Recently, a tomb suspected of belonging to Emperor Yang of Sui was discovered in Hanjiang district of Yangzhou. "Deceased Emperor Yang of Sui epitaph", "The Daye 11th year" was engraved on the unearthed epitaph, which is in line with the historical records.

Later, according to Shu Jiaping, director of Yangzhou's archaeological bureau, the inscription on a tablet found in the tomb proves that its owner was Yang.

"Yang's tomb wasn't even as luxurious as normal rich people's tombs in the Sui Dynasty, due to his sudden death when he fled revolts to Jiangdu, which is Yangzhou today," Shu said.

The tomb of one of the most infamous emperors in Chinese history was unearthed in a construction site in Yangzhou city, close to a fake tomb that had become a tourist attraction.

This discovery restores the historical truth, and ensures the Emperor's real burial site.
