Teahouses, however, are not just about tea. In old Beijing, they also offered folk art performances and local snacks. In Berlin, visitors are treated to a combination of tea and martial arts, or Kung-fu tea. The stunt wowed the packed hall.

Based on a popular stage-play, the Lao She Teahouse was founded in 1988 and quickly became popular in Beijing. It continues to attract tourists from home and abroad.
