According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the 23rd day of the 12th month is Xiaonian Festival. Xiaonian, literally means "small new year”. This year, it falls on Sunday, February 3rd. On this day, people clean their houses, decorating it with paper cuttings, pictures and festive mascots and do their New Year shopping. The Spring Festival, which falls on Feb. 10 this year, is traditionally the most important holiday for Chinese people. People prepare food and snacks for the coming Spring Festival since the day of Xiaonian.
