Al-Qaida in Yemen advises France to cease military operations in Mali (2)

"We the al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, advise the French government to withdraw its troops from Mali and instead focus on its deteriorating economy and domestic problems... so you do not need to increase your troubles," it added.

Earlier in January, France has launched weeks-long military operations on the Islamist rebels in the desert of Mali.

The Yemeni Interior Ministry said last week that it has tightened security around the French embassy in the capital of Sanaa and the French petroleum investment in southern Yemen as a precautionary measure to face every eventuality after France's military ground offensive in Mali.

The AQAP is considered the most active regional terrorist network in the Middle East.

Backed by the international community, the Yemeni government has been launching almost daily military offensives against the hideouts of the militants since Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi was sworn in in February 2012, after a yearlong unrest weakened the control of the central government and allowed the militants to take over swaths of territory in the south.

The Yemeni government managed to recapture several of those southern cities in May 2012.
