Awards of Guizhou’s drug control work in 2008

1. The State Council AIDS Prevention Committee awarded Guizhou Public Security Department the honorary title of “advanced provincial-level working unit for community-based medicine maintenance and treatment.”

2. The National Drug Control Office awarded Guizhou Drug Control Office the “Excellent Organization Award” in the online knowledge competition about the Anti-drug Law.

April 8 Based on the information found in the “Tianmu Campaign” of the National Original Drug Plant Remote Supervision Center that there were 13 target spots of the original plants of drugs in Puding County, Qingzhen, and Zhijin County in the border area of Guiyang, Anshun, and Bijie, the drug control squad held an meeting and made arrangements for an immediate clearing campaign in the three cities (localities).

May 19 Guizhou Drug Control Commission held its first plenary session in 2009. It summarized the drug control work in 2008, analyzed the drug situation, and made arrangements for the drug control work in 2009. Leaders including Lin Shusen, deputy secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, governor, and director of Guizhou Drug Control Commission, Huang Kangsheng, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, vice governor, and deputy director of Guizhou Drug Control Commission, and Cui Yadong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, secretary of Guizhou Politics and Law Commission, deputy director of Guizhou Drug Control Commission, and head of Guizhou Public Security Department, attended the session and delivered important speeches.

June 1 A delegation led by Cheng Honglin, deputy head of Guizhou Public Security Department and director of Guizhou Drug Control Office, attended the national meeting on key drug control held by the National Drug Control Commission in Jinjiang, Fujian. At the meeting, it was announced that Pan County and Zhijin County of Guizhou would no longer be listed as the regions under the national key control.

June 25 Guizhou Public Security Department held a public drug destruction & news release meeting, and destroyed 560 jin of various kinds of drugs captured in uncovered cases in public.

August 26 Guizhou Drug Control Commission held the meeting on the new round of key drug control throughout the provincial in Guiyang. Cui Yadong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, secretary of Guizhou Politics and Law Commission, deputy director of Guizhou Drug Control Commission, and head of Guizhou Public Security Department, attended and addressed the meeting (10 counties and cities were removed from the list of key drug control regions).

October 1 In accordance with the overall deployment and requirements in the plan for the 90-day drug control campaign, focusing on case clearing, evasion pursuit, and comprehensive treatment, made by Guizhou public security authorities, the drug control squad made arrangements for the carrying out of the campaign by public security authorities throughout the province between October 1 and December 31. In the campaign, a total of 31 at large criminals were captured, including 2 criminals on the key track-down list of Guizhou Public Security Department, 20 escaped criminal of Guizhou, and 9 escaped criminals of other provinces.
