Chronicle of Events in Drug Control in Guizhou (After the People’s Republic of China was founded) (9)

January 17 Vice governor Xiao Yong’an led relevant leaders of Guizhou Development and Reform Commission, Guizhou Drug Control Office, Guizhou Financial Department, and the Ministry of Public Security went to Beijing and reported the situation about the construction of drug rehabilitation and recovery sites in Guizhou to the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Public Security.

June 22 Guizhou Drug Control Commission held a video and telephone conference about vigorously promoting the people’s war against drugs throughout the province. Huang Kangsheng, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and vice governor, and Cui Yadong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, secretary of Guizhou Politics and Law Commission, and head of Guizhou Public Security Department, delivered important speeches, and made arrangements for vigorously promoting the people’s war against drugs throughout the province.

June 25 Wang Xiaodong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and executive vice governor, delivered a TV speech entitled of “closely relying on the general public and vigorously promoting the people’s war against drugs.

October 24 The work meeting about the construction of drug rehabilitation and recovery sites throughout the province was held in Guiyang. At the meeting, arrangements were made for the construction of Guizhou Drug Rehabilitation and Recovery Center, Guiyang Drug Rehabilitation and Recovery Center, and Sanjiang work camp and drug rehabilitation and recovery site.

November 12 Guizhou Drug Control Office held the summary meeting of Guizhou’s community-based medicine maintenance and treatment work & experience exchange meeting. At the meeting, it summarized the achievements that Guizhou had made in community-based adadnon maintenance and treatment work in the past three years, analyzed existing problems, and deployed the following work.

December 24-26 A delegation led by Liu Yuejin, deputy secretary general of the National Drug Control Commission and deputy head of the Narcotics Control Bureau of the Public Security Ministry, investigated Zhijin County and Pan County under the key drug control, and supervised and guided the construction of drug rehabilitation and recovery sites.

December 27-28 The National Drug Control Commission held a symposium about the national key drug control work, which was attended by leaders of drug control commissions (offices) and public security authorities of 11 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions), 30 counties (cities and districts), and 16 areas under key drug control of the National Drug Control Commission.
