Hold the bottom line

China is principled and reasonable but it will hold its bottom line

China will unswervingly follow the road of peaceful development and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security and development. It is not contradictory because China maintains its legitimate rights and interests and safeguards something of its own, rather than to seize others'. Only when a country maintains its sovereignty, safety and development, can it achieve peaceful development. China is principled and reasonable but it will hold its bottom line.

Never seek hegemony

To be a good neighbor, friend and partner of neighboring countries forever

Distant kinsmen mean less than close neighbors. China refuses the logic that "A country certainly will seek hegemony when it becomes powerful." Domination and expansion are not in line with Chinese culture and policy. No matter how powerful China becomes, it will keep on good terms with neighbors. The Asian countries in the critical stage of accelerating development should cherish the peaceful and stable situation, maintain the trend of sustainable and faster development and eliminate any factors undermining the development and cooperation of Asia. They should race against time, seize any opportunities of promoting self-development and development of Asia, set a good example and make new contributions to the world peace.
