China had always been steadfast in safeguarding peace and stability in Asia and the world, Sun said.

China opposed hegemonism and would never seek hegemony. It would always be a trustworthy and reliable cooperative partner for the Asian people, he said.

The ACD, chaired by Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, discussed issues such as deepening cooperation within the Asian continent and enhancing Asia's influence in the world, and issued a communique.

Initiated by Thailand in 2002, the ACD now has 32 member states and is the only inter-governmental dialogue and cooperation platform in Asia at a continental level. It has played a positive role in promoting mutual understanding and unity among Asian countries.
