Internationalization of Diaoyu Islands issue cannot make water muddy (2)

(People's Daily Online)

08:03, September 20, 2012

On the international stage, it has been a major strategic goal of Japan to get rid of national image of "an economic giant but a political midget". In the past, Japan took advantage of changing geo-political situations to deploy the Self-Defense Force to overseas regions, which are its trial actions to play a more important international role. The "index" indicating Japan is a political power is to become a permanent member of UN Security Council. The worsening Diaoyu Island issue will inevitably go against Japan's role in the international community and its appeal of being a permanent member of UN Security Council.

Japan's internationalization of the Diaoyu Islands issue attempts to make the clean water muddy so that it could benefit itself and minimize the damage of Japan's international image caused by the Diaoyu Islands issue.

In response to Japan's follow-up measures, China should adopt further countermeasures. First, China should resolutely protect the Chinese fishing boats legally working in waters off the Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea. Second, China should draw red lines for Japan's so-called "guard system" in relevant waters. Third, China should declare to the international community that the country like Japan, which ignores history and code of international conduct, should not play an important political role in the world.
